I am honored to have been selected by Obeetee along with fifteen architects, interior designers, and artists to participate in the Quick Ship "Express" Program DIFFA Collection

Participating gives me the opportunity to work with the design community and to help those in need through my work. It also gives me the opportunity to express the creativity and passion for what I do!

When I first started the process of designing, I wanted to focus on sober happiness—to honor so many who have been taken by AIDS. The inspiration for my design stems from the Bougainvillea, a plant that has been in my life since I was a child back in Venezuela, and that then continued to have a presence when I lived in the Caribbean. I still enjoy it on the days when I visit my home in my beloved Greece, where I see the most spectacular plants all over Athens, and on the island in so many mighty colors—though rarely in purple.

The color's inspiration came from a picture of purple artichokes that I took at the Testaccio Market in Rome, Italy. It was not easy to select the right purples or greens from the two hundred colors of New Zealand wool that Obeetee has to offer.

Thank you, Obeetee and DIFFA for making me a part of this wonderful project. -Asler Valero
