Earlier this week over 250 people gathered with Bob Williams and Mitchell Gold to celebrate Mitchell's birthday at the duo's eponymous home furnishings store in SoHo. In an unsurprising show of generosity and empathy, Mitchell used the event as a platform to raise money and awareness for the nonprofit organization he founded, Faith in America. The mission of FIA is to combat religious-based harm against LGBTQ people. While the issues that plague LGBTQ youth are serious and heartbreaking, Emmy award-winning television journalist Thomas Roberts added levity by serving as the Emcee for the evening. Heartfelt toasts were given by Bob Williams, Mindy Drucker (Mitchell's sister-in-law), Bruce Bastian (whose foundation B.W. Bastion was a Presenting Sponsor of the evening), and Tim Gold (Mitchell's husband). Guests were also treated to tunes by Lady Bunny and catering by Creative Edge. Before the night was over, award-winning country music star and FIA board member Chely Wright sang a few songs. Our favorite part? Mitchell was treated to a Birthday video message (see below) from some of his friends in the media world and it's a must-see.
