The New York Design Center's Epic Spring

The New York Design Center is experiencing an epic spring, introducing a slew of new design showrooms you have to see now!

by Jason Kontos

There is nothing like spring in New York. From the riot of colorful flowers and foliage flourishing all over town, to the waves of people dining al fresco, and art fairs galore, our city is abloom. But this year, we are experiencing a different kind of blossoming, and we can look straight to the New York Design Center for that. In just the last few months the NYDC has introduced nine new showrooms! It's a feat of epic proportions and thanks go to Jim Druckman, the man at the helm, and Alix Lerman, for making this design destination, the design destination. Housing over 100 showrooms and representing over 500 lines of furniture, fabric, lighting, antiques, and more, designers no longer have to run all over town. They can plan entire projects at 200 Lex.

And the new showrooms? We can't wait to explore them and showcase them on our pages. From Aero, Thomas O'Brien's revolving selection of vintage modern furniture and lighting, to Crosby Street Studios, a fantastic source of custom luxurious textiles and carpets dedicated to the trade, and to the highly-anticipated Kelly Wearstler showroom expected to showcase the designer's signature brand of bold, sophisticated designs—we are in the throes of design ecstasy. In fact, you can take a peek at Brad Ford's new showroom, FAIR, on the pages of our spring issue of The Goods. A few of the new ones too look out for include Seguso, Plexi-Craft, Jiun Ho, Bradley, AMQ, and LeftBank Art. Hats off to The New York Design Center. Not only are they a major player in the industry, supporting wonderful organizations such as the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club and The Alpha Workshops, they are bringing use more and more of what makes the design world go round. What a spring!

The New York Design Center is located at 200 Lexington Avenue, NYC 10016.
