From June 22nd through August 22nd, Maison Gerard presents Quiet Profundity: The Work of Korean Master Stone Carver Yongjin Han. The exhibition is a retrospective of works from the private collection of Han, a master sculptor and stone carver. The artist is not only celebrated as a contemporary sculptor in Korea but is also well known as one of the early delvers into Korean abstract sculpture in the tradition of Constantin Brancusi. Han works alone on each sculpture, utilizing traditional hand tools and stone carving methods to explore harmony within nature. Maison Gerard will re-create the artist's studio to offer a glimpse into the artist's life and contextualize the work.
"As stone has been around since the beginning of time, it has must to teach us if we care to slow down and listen." -Yongjin Han
Maison Gerard is located in 53 East 10th Street, NYC 10003.
