John Barman has been injecting interiors with a dose of color-infused glamour since he opened his namesake firm more than two decades ago. The designer is also renowned for his ability to mix period décor and antiques with modern furnishings and traditional architecture, and to offset handsome, crisp lines with fascinating objects that add a bit of an edge. Recognized as an innovative force and both a classicist and a modernist, Barman has a list of heavyweight clients that includes George Stephanopoulos and Alexandra Wentworth, Bryant Gumbel, and Wynton Marsalis. On his agenda are a modern house on an island in Miami Beach, a lower Manhattan penthouse, and an oceanfront estate in Southampton, NY.
